Often referred to as "Firewheel," the Indian Blanket is one of the most vibrant wildflowers. This easy-to-grow annual reaches heights of one to two feet. You can plant the seeds in late fall or early spring, and there’s no need to till the soil beforehand. Simply scalp the grass and rake the area to ensure the seeds have good contact with the soil. Once the blooms have faded and the seeds are mature, mow down the plants. Don't be surprised if you see another group of plants emerge in the fall! As long as you allow the seeds to mature before mowing, you can enjoy a stunning display of blooms each spring.
