Jackson Wonder Lima Beans

The Jackson Wonder Lima Bean is a reliable heirloom variety suitable for both southern and northern gardens. Introduced in 1888, this drought-tolerant bean, developed by Atlanta farmer Thomas Jackson, gained popularity for its impressive productivity, even though it only grows to about 18 inches tall. Each curved 3-inch pod contains approximately three seeds, which are gray when fresh and dry to a buff color adorned with beautiful purple and black mottling. Not only are the beans succulent, but they are also visually appealing. The sweet-smelling white flowers of the plant attract butterflies and are especially appealing to pollinators.
