Description:

Lablab beans are highly valued for their late summer flowers and vibrant purple peapods. Along with soybeans and cowpeas, lablab (Lablab purpureus) is one of the main forage legumes planted for deer during the spring and summer months. Originally from Africa, lablab is a warm-season annual legume that is well-suited to a variety of soils and climatic conditions across the country. It is extremely appealing and nutritious for deer, containing 25 to 30 percent crude protein in fields with good soil fertility. Additionally, lablab is tolerant of low fertility and soil acidity.
