Sericea lespedeza (Lespedeza cuneata) is a warm-season perennial legume characterized by herbaceous to somewhat woody stems. Numerous stands of this plant along roadways contribute to its spread into surrounding natural habitats. Each stem can produce up to a thousand seeds, which can remain viable for 20 years or more.
