Korean and common lespedeza are types of annual, warm-season legumes. They primarily grow during July and August and are highly palatable, making them unlikely to cause bloat in livestock. Korean lespedeza can be frost-seeded or drilled into pastures during midwinter or early spring, with the plants emerging in the summer. It can also be seeded into a growing wheat crop, allowing for hay or pasture use after the wheat harvest. The seeds are shiny black, and there are approximately 240,000 seeds per pound of Korean lespedeza.
